Erosion Control Blanket Installation Tips

Erosion Control Blanket Installation Tips

Installing an erosion control system is the best way to prevent soil erosion from destroying your slope vegetation. The most common problem that people share when they want to install the product on their plantation is the lack of knowledge and skills on how to do this. Let’s address this problem. Below, you can find basic tips on how to install erosion control systems on slope vegetation.

Step 1 – Preparation:

Prepare for the installation. The surface of the soil needs to be smooth, without any rocks and pebbles. As soon as the surface is smooth, apply fertilizer and lime, plant the seeds.

Step 2 – Anchoring the Blanket:

Next, get ready to anchor the blanket. This is better to be done through finding an anchoring spot at the top of the slop. This simplifies the installation process. Please mind the dimensions of the anchor trench. It needs to be at least 6 inches deep and 6 inches wide.

Step 3 – Blanket Installation:

Proceed to the blanket installation. Roll it down the slope. Anchor it across the slope. As soon as you roll out the erosion blanket, staple it into place. Do this by anchoring the edges using metal staples after every 2 feet.

Step 4 – Blanket Splicing:

If you need to splice the blanket, do it with special caution since any minor mistake can lead to bad results. Before proceeding to the blanket splicing, make certain that each blanket has an overlap of 8 inches at least.

Step 5 – Finishing Touches:

You’ve almost finished the installation. When the soil erosion blanket completely covers your vegetation, you can go ahead and create a more anchoring spot at the bottom of the slope. This anchor should be 6 inches deep and 6 inches wide. By doing so, you may rest assured that your soil erosion blanket will be held in place.

These are the basic steps that you need to take to install a soil erosion control blanket on your slope vegetation. Hope this will be useful for you whenever you decide to save your slope vegetation from damage.
